DJ Campbell’s late goal saw Town to a 2-1 victory over Burnley in Mick McCarthy’s first home game in charge of the Blues. Daryl Murphy got Town’s first home league win in 11 games — the last came back in March — up and running just after the break with a controversial header, but a Danny Higginbotham own goal put the visitors on terms before Campbell’s 87th minute winner.

Summer signing Elliott Hewitt is in the Town senior squad for the first time for Mick McCarthy’s Portman Road bow against Burnley on Saturday. The 18-year-old right-back impressed the new Blues boss in the U21s in midweek having been out since his move from Macclesfield after undergoing hip surgery while still with the Silkmen.

Sam Vokes opened the scoring from a header from a corner, then Chris McCann added the second just before the break. The Irishman added his second and the Clarets’ third, before Jay Rodriguez completed the scoring.
